CABHAIR CHRISTMAS SWIM , 25th DECEMBER 2010.

1976 - 2010 : 34th CABHAIR CHRISTMAS DAY CANAL SWIM , SATURDAY 25th DECEMBER 2010.

In this post , we publish some pics taken at the 3rd Lough of the Grand Canal , in Inchicore , Dublin , on Christmas Day , 2010 , during the 34th Annual CABHAIR Swim. Other pics re same can be viewed on our ‘Main’ Site , ‘1169 And Counting….’ , post dated Sunday 26th December 2010.

Swimmer Francie snowballed !

“But , Daddy , the water HAS to be around here, somewhere….”

“S’no joke , this…..!”

Two (almost!) ready to go….

Person in blue hoodie on fire…..

….which spreads quickly to this young boys hair !

On yer bike !

Santa sneaks down for a Guinness !

Sun shines on the sing-song !

Swimming for political reasons.

Steady swimmers , camera-man shaking with the cold !

As stated , more Swim pics over at our ‘Main’ Site (post dated Sunday 26/12/10) and a full report , with extra pics , will be published in ‘SAOIRSE’ in the January 2011 issue. CABHAIR , the swimmers , the on-lookers , other supporters and the local traders who supplied the drink and mince pies , lemonade , crisps etc all deserve full praise for this event , which was held in sub-zero temperature and in 12 inches of snow! As one of the organisers said - ‘If we can do it in this weather , there’s no stopping us…’ - and he’s right : as long as there is a need , Irish Republicans will be there to fulfill it.
Thanks for reading ,
Sharon.
